THE FRONT LINE

in the War on Public Land and Wildlife

About

All Americans own and enjoy access to 640 million acres of public land throughout the United States. In America fish and wildlife are public resources that belong to the people, which is not the case in many other countries around the world. But today our public lands, waters and wildlife are under threat like never before. Politicians want to sell off our lands to the wealthy, jeopardizing our hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. National forests, monuments, wildlife refuges, recreation areas—even our national parks are at risk. American Hunters & Anglers has two words for those politicians: HELL NO. And we’ll make sure they hear from us loud and clear.

American Hunters & Anglers is the Front Line in the War on Public Lands. We are a nonpartisan, national network of public land advocates. This means we’re not afraid to stand up to anyone who wants to mess with our public lands. We have a simple mission: to deliver accountability to all elected and unelected policymakers and special interests who threaten our hunting, fishing and outdoor heritage.

AMERICAN HUNTERS & ANGLERS PROUDLY AND RIGOROUSLY SUPPORTS:

The seven principles of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, which allows the public—not just the wealthy—to benefit from publicly owned land and wildlife.

1

Wildlife is a public resource held in public trust.

In the United States, wildlife is considered a public resource, independent of the land or water where wildlife may live. The government, at various levels, has a role in managing that resource on behalf of all citizens, and to ensure the long-term sustainability of wildlife populations.

We will celebrate policymakers who support and strengthen this foundational model and we will bring tough accountability to those who do not.

Federal and state policies that support more access to public lands, healthy fish and wildlife populations, clean air and water, thriving wildlands, stronger outdoor recreation opportunities and a robust, responsible outdoor recreation economy.

The Second Amendment rights of responsible gun owners.

AMERICAN HUNTERS & ANGLERS
STAUNCHLY
OPPOSES:

Politicians and proposals that support transferring the management of publicly owned federal lands to individual states.

Politicians and proposals that support the selloff of publicly owned lands to wealthy individuals, corporations or special interests.

Policies that weaken, diminish or threaten public lands, healthy fish and wildlife populations, clean water, thriving wildlands, stronger outdoor recreation opportunities and a robust, responsible outdoor recreation economy.

Policies that weaken hunters' and shooters' ability to own and possess firearms under the Second Amendment.
